Icon Tutorial #3

Introduction

Hello! The icon I will be making today isn’t too hard. It has to do with colouring and just adding various textures.

Creation Station

First of all I came across a gorgeous photoshoot that I wanted to use and picked out THIS and THIS. I deleted the background from the stock and the girl (right-hand photo). First I started off with a blank canvas and filled it with #EEEFE7.

I resized the paper stock to about 80px and the model to about 90px. Then I arranged the paper stock behind the model.

I added THIS texture behind the two images and set the blend mode to LUMINANCE.

Afterward, I took THIS texture and resized it to about 200px. I pasted it onto the canvas, positioned it behind the girl but on top of the paper, and set the layer to MULTIPLY.

Then I duplicated the model, sharpened it, and set the layer to 50% OPACITY. I took THIS texture and pasted it as a new layer. I set the opacity to 38% and the blend mode to DARKEN.

I wanted the colours to pop a little so COPY MERGED the canvas and pasted it as a new layer. Then I went to Ajust >> Colour Balance >> Manual Colour Correction. I set the Source to #808080 and the Target to #AAB7DA. I set this layer to 20% OPACITY and blend mode OVERLAY.

Then I duplicated that merged layer and sharpened it. I set it to 30% OPACITY blend mode NORMAL.

And voila! I’m finished. Pretty simple. If you have any questions regarding this tutorial feel free to ask me by leaving a comment below. Lastly, don’t forget to credit back! ^_^
